Swing by Emory this month for Brave New Works and catch some exciting new theater by local playwrights and invited guests from around the country. I will be showing some extremely new work on Saturday February 6th at 7PM: selections (or maybe a first draft--no promises) from THE MYSTIC a play about an aging senile matriarch who believes she is a 12th century Christian visionary and an 8 year-old 12th century German girl whose visions of the future are scaring the crap out of everyone around her.

All events are free and open to the public, but reservations are requested and can be made by following the event links to the Arts at Emory calendar.

Really looking forward to spending two weeks in utopian splendor as one of three playwrights invited to Serenbe Playhouse's inaugural New Territories Playwriting Residency where we'll be starting work on brand new site-specific plays inspired by our Chattahoochee Hills environs. You can learn more about this brilliant new program on the Playhouse website. While you're poking around, make sure to check out the AIR Serenbe website for information on existing Artists in Residence programming and to learn more about this weird and wonderful community just south of Atlanta, go here: Serenbe.

I'm so excited that one of my plays made it onto the Kilroy's Honorable Mentions List for the second year in a row. Apparently 2 or 3 people really liked my new play THE STROKE and saw fit to nominate it for the List. These ladies are doing great work for great ladies and I'm honored to be counted among the top 32%.

Four playwrights (Atlanta-based scribes Johnny Drago, Daryl FazioMichael Develle Winn and me!), will lock themselves away for two-days of furious writing, at the end of which they'll have four brand new plays all based around the same source material. After a swift workshop process, all of the material will be presented marathon-style to the public. Saturday July 11th at Emory's Schwartz Theatre Lab. Start time and reading schedule TBD so check back in early July.

Breaking Ground is Theater Emory's annual summer "open studio" series. Over the course of three weeks, TE offers up the Schwartz Theatre Lab to invited artists in the very early stages of their creative process. Invited artists are given one week of development time that culminates in a presentation of the work that's been done. All events are free and open to the public.]]>
